Common Issues with Electrical Panels

An electrical panel replacement is often met with apprehension, but it's an essential task when faced with certain challenges. Persistent tripping breakers, regular flickering lights, or even worse, a burning smell from the panel, are all telltale signs that an electrical panel replacement in San Antonio, TX, might be imminent. Overloaded circuits, burnt wires, or defective main breakers are just some of the culprits behind these issues, and they can pose serious safety risks if left unchecked. But here's the good news: our team of professionals is well-equipped to handle this task, ensuring your electrical system's smooth operation and your home's safety. Don't let these common issues linger and grow into bigger problems.

The Difference Between Fuses & Circuit Breakers

Fuses and circuit breakers both play the critical role of protecting your home from electrical overloads and short circuits, they do so in subtly different ways. A fuse is a one-and-done device that will blow when overloaded, needing a replacement each time. On the other hand, a circuit breaker, the more modern and user-friendly option, simply trips during an overload and can be reset to restore the flow of electricity. This key distinction often makes circuit breakers a preferred choice for many homeowners. If you’re ready to make the switch with a fuse box upgrade, our specialists can help ensure that your new circuit breaker is installed safely and according to all current codes and standards.

When to Upgrade Your Electrical Panel

Determining the right time for an electrical panel upgrade often leaves homeowners in a quandary. But thankfully there are a few clear signals that can help you decide. If your home still operates with a fuse-based system, an upgrade is long overdue. Other telltale signs include frequent breaker trips or if your panel still houses a brand that's no longer in business. Planning a major home renovation or adding high-power consumption appliances? That's another perfect time to consider an upgrade. Our team of experts can guide you through this process, helping you decide when and why an upgrade makes sense. We also provide new electrical panel installation in San Antonio, Texas, for those who are in the planning stages of constructing a new property.

Our Customers Love our Services

John was on time, explained the issue I was having, offered me a couple of options, and then repaired the switch that was giving me problems, following my preferences of the choices he had given me.  He was pleasant, professional, and did a great job.  Would not hesitate to  use Mr. Electric again!

Austin, electrician and his teammate we’re great! Both were punctual, courteous, and very informative in explaining the situation and their recommendations to replace a bad breaker in our panel.  There was NO frivolous attempt up-sale to items we didn’t need and they were straight to the point honest in their recommendation. In the end, I would described the customer service Austin and his teammate provided me as, AWESOME! Being a new home owner, I am glad I have found  this company and will be using them any future electrical needs!

Outstanding communication and very professional service.  I would highly recommend Mr. Electric.  Received both e-mails and texts on appointment to include a photo and short bio of the actual electrician (Brad Mason) who would be doing the work.  Wish all home service providers did the same.  Brad was on time (actually a few minutes early).  He installed 30AMP breaker and associated RV plug in our garage.  To avoid any sheetrock repairs it was necessary for him to drop the line to the house electric panel through a wall with foam insulation, with very limited head/body clearance for him to work.  No mess left behind from the actual plug installation on another wall.

Rick from Mr. Electric arrived when expected and quickly diagnosed the problem.  He recommended a solution and gave us a proposal for solving the problem.  We asked when he could do the work and how long would it take.  He said he could do the job that day and it would take 4 or 5 hours.  The price was reasonable, and we told him to get started.  He did a very good job, neat and within the estimated time.  The invoice amount for the job was was the same as the proposal amount.  We are planning on having Mr. Electric and hopefully Rick do more work in the near future to upgrade our home's 50+ year old electrical system.
